You can encourage civic participation!

We’ve got you covered with vetted, non-partisan, ready-to-use resources to encourage civic participation.

  • Voting-specific Syllabus Text

A paragraph for your course syllabi that directs students to accurate, non-partisan voting information.

You can copy and paste the sample text below:

When more people participate in civic life, a broader array of perspectives is represented in policies and laws that impact our country, society, and the world. For many students, this includes voting. You’re eligible to vote in U.S. elections if you’re a U.S. citizen, 18 years old by election day and have residency where you want to vote. For information about voter registration, casting a ballot, and additional resources, visit UMICH Votes at govote.umich.edu.

(As a reminder, it’s against the law to offer extra credit or other incentives to students for registering or voting!)

  • “5 Things to Know About Voting” Slides

A concise set of slides you can easily add to an existing deck or Canvas page.

We’ve created a set of slides with non-partisan tips, deadlines, and resources for students. They’re easy to post to your Canvas page or present in 5–10 minutes with minimal prep.
